Clio, a legal AI company, announced on June 24, 2026, a partnership with Perplexity to integrate Vincent by Clio into Computer for Counsel, Perplexity's AI work platform for legal professionals. The integration, set to launch in the coming months, will allow large law firms to run legal research, citator analysis, and authority-backed legal reasoning without leaving their primary work environment. The move addresses a recurring friction point for enterprise legal teams: switching between research tools and drafting platforms during active matters.
This partnership signals a broader shift in how law firms are building their AI workflows. Rather than relying on a single generalist AI platform, firms are increasingly connecting specialized legal intelligence systems to the tools they already use daily.
The Research Gap
Legal work demands precision. Lawyers require research outputs linked to verifiable sources, rather than summaries that cannot be traced back to authoritative texts.
Vincent by Clio draws on Clio Library, a corpus of over one billion documents covering case law, statutes, regulations, court rules, and secondary sources across more than 100 jurisdictions. Every result is linked back to a verifiable legal authority, which enables lawyers to validate findings before incorporating them into their work product.
How the Integration Works
The connection between the two platforms runs through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector. MCP is a technical standard that allows AI systems to share tools and data in a structured way.
Through this connector, shared customers of Clio and Perplexity will access Vincent's research capabilities directly inside Computer for Counsel. Lawyers will not need to switch platforms to run a search, check citations, or verify the authority behind a legal argument.
What Stakeholders Said
John Foreman, Chief Product Officer at Clio, described the rationale behind the integration.
"We're moving from a world where people learn tech to a world where tech learns what people are trying to accomplish," Foreman said. "In legal, the value of those systems depends on the quality of the intelligence beneath them. Vincent was built to provide legal answers grounded in authority, both in the form of Clio Library and a firm's own documents."
Foreman added that the goal is to make Vincent available wherever a law firm works, with Computer for Counsel as a key use case.
What Comes Next
Clio and Perplexity will share availability details and customer program information in the coming months. Enterprise legal teams can visit clio.com/enterprise to learn more.
The partnership reflects the direction enterprise legal AI is moving: toward composable stacks where domain-specific intelligence layers sit underneath general AI platforms, rather than AI platforms attempting to handle everything on their own.
