Harbor Acquires iTrain to Bridge Law Firms' AI Adoption Gap

Harbor has acquired UK legal technology training specialist iTrain, a move aimed at capturing the growing demand for AI enablement services as law firms struggle to convert technology investments into genuine user adoption. The Chicago-based legal services provider, backed by private equity firm BayPine LP, announced that the deal will deepen its transatlantic training and adoption capabilities, combining iTrain's UK client base with Harbor's existing US practice.

The acquisition addresses a structural problem in the legal technology market: law firm technology spending grew 9.7% in 2025, the fastest real growth in the industry's history, according to Thomson Reuters and Georgetown Law. Yet that investment consistently outpaces the training and change management needed to drive actual usage. Wolters Kluwer's 2026 Future Ready Lawyer Survey identifies inadequate training as one of the top barriers to AI adoption, alongside data security and output reliability concerns.

iTrain, founded by Dorigen Sykes, works with Magic Circle and top mid-market UK firms on legal technology training, user adoption, change management, and AI enablement. The firm operates a Training-as-a-Service model and an AI-enabled learning management platform, providing recurring adoption support at scale. Strategic partnerships with Aderant, iManage, NetDocuments, Intapp, and Elite position iTrain within the dominant vendor ecosystem. The company has developed an early AI enablement practice, with active Microsoft Copilot adoption programs and AI readiness assessments in its pipeline. The iTrain team joins Harbor's Enterprise Solutions practice under Practice Group Leader Justin Farmer. Terms were not disclosed. This marks Harbor's third acquisition since BayPine took a majority stake in June 2025.
